SALT HOLDINGS CORPORATION CHANGES ITS NAME TO COMPASS MINERALS INTERNATIONAL, INC. AND ANNOUNCES THE FILING OF A REGISTRATION STATEMENT FOR AN INITIAL PUBLIC OFFERING

Overland Park, Kansas, November 5, 2003 - Salt Holdings Corporation today announced that it has changed its name to Compass Minerals International, Inc. (the "Company") and has filed a registration statement on Form S-1 with the Securities and Exchange Commission for an initial public offering of its common stock.

The number of shares to be offered and the price range for the offering have not yet been determined. All of the shares to be sold in the offering are being offered by existing stockholders of the Company.

The lead underwriters of the offering are Goldman, Sachs & Co. and Credit Suisse First Boston LLC.

A registration statement relating to these securities has been filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission, but has not yet become effective.
