Great Salt Lake Minerals Corporation (GSL), headquartered in Overland Park, Kansas, is a key company of Compass Minerals International (CMP), a worldwide leader in the minerals business. GSL is the largest producer of Sulfate of Potash (SOP) in North America.

Some would say the story of GSL began 15,000 years ago when a fresh water lake called Lake Bonneville, which covered parts of Utah, Idaho and Nevada, slowly receded to form what is now the Great Salt Lake. This mineral-rich lake contains approximately 5 billion tons of minerals, including 200 million tons of SOP. Many centuries later, this natural setting provided the ideal location for GSL - whose SOP reserves are estimated at roughly 1,000 years.

GSL was established in 1967 when Lithium Corporation merged with Gulf Sulfur Corporation to form Gulf Resources and Chemical Corporation. Gulf Resources created a subsidiary called Great Salt Lake Minerals Corporation to extract and evaporate SOP from the Great Salt Lake.

Today, GSL focuses on being the industry's preferred supplier of Sulfate of Potash while continuing to put customer service and the quality of our product at the top of our priority list. Sulfate of Potash is our business and GSL is the only worldwide producer whose strategic product is SOP.
